Sustainable farming practices
We believe that Food production must be sustainable and co-exist with nature. Why? Farming covers 71% of the total land area in the UK, whilst also acting as a key driver of biodiversity and habitat loss through land conversion, soil degradation, overfishing, water abstraction and chemical and nutrient pollution. That’s why we’re promoting regenerative farming practices across the UK.
Through our partnership with the Nature Friendly Farming Network (NFFN), we now have 4500 acres of soil committed to our soil recovery programme. That’s 14 farms committed to regenerative farming and sustainable food production in the UK. This is just the beginning.
NFFN is a membership organisation led by farmers. Together we’re helping farmers at every stage of the journey towards nature-friendly farming. From farm-level knowledge to shaping food and farming policies, the purpose of NFFN is to positively influence change.
“Water, soil and biodiversity aren’t just features of our
landscapes - they’re the building blocks of how we feed
ourselves, and their health is a precondition for viable
farming. We can do many things to ensure our future food system
is fair and sustainable, and our work helps make this
possible.”
Martin Lines, CEO, the Nature Friendly
Farming Network.
